Hello, I’m Sneha! Wife, Mom of two, creator of clothing and art, and exister in chaos.
There has never been any doubt that I was born to create. My first jaunt with sewing was hand sewing my Barbie’s clothes when I was five, and oh how I loved creating those dresses! Somehow that joy slipped away as I grew up and studied engineering. I rediscovered my true calling when I saw a Joann’s store closing down, and spent an afternoon buying tons of fabric at crazy prices. I bought a sewing machine knowing nothing about them, and took a beginner’s class at the new Joann that opened up. It turned out I was a natural.
I’ve been sewing ever since, teaching myself from books and the internet. After the ubiquitous pillow that I sewed at the class, I jumped in with both feet, and sewed a 50’s style fully lined red polyester dress with a halter-neck, boned bodice, circle skirt and an invisible zipper. It never occurred to me that this was a bad choice for a first timer. It fit great, by the way.
This blog is really a journal to remind me that no matter how flashy and complicated a pattern is, if you get the basic steps right, you can do it at any level of experience. Every project I finish, I learn something new, and share some tips and tricks that might help someone else along the way.
I am always interested in your experiences, and would love your contribution about techniques and tips. Please email me at sewingcurvesblog@gmail.com.
